Ethnie, Confession and Intercultural Dialogue at the European Union Eastern Border
The reason for the project:
-
In the area of the new Eastern border of the European Union, there are specific ethnic and religious realities and it is important to know and understand them. In the area of the new EU Eastern borders, there are specific ethnic and religious realities whose knowledge and understanding are necessary . The project aims at meeting the need for general and specific knowledge in the field of ethnic and religious realities at the European Union Eastern border area, that is, European ecumenism, ethnic and religious borders, diversity management, contemporary demographic mutations, minority-majority relations, management of interethnic and interreligious conflicts, community and community borders, multicultural communication management and intercultural dialogue management needed by the large public, as well as specialists in issues related to Euroregional studies and the ENP.
-
The new borderless Europe has to understand and establish connections between its different nations and cultures lest cultural borders should appear stronger and more difficult to cross. Thanks to its means, media is a fundamental actor in this process, as in a globalised world, information and communication help solving intercultural issues.
The aims of the project:
- identifying the possibilities of receding the stereotypes, preconceptions and discriminations regarding ethnic and religious minorities
- understanding the importance of diversity in the new Europe and the need to connect cultures
- understanding the new meaning of the borders
- reducing communicational barriers between peoples and religious communities
- getting to know the particularities of different European countries
- understanding ethnic and religious realities at the EU eastern border
- identifying means for cooperation between ethnic and religious communities on the cross-border level
